In a city the size of New York virtually every possible sandwich is probably available. Restaurants jockey for position to be the leader in their niche.

The Meatball Shop fits their niche perfectly! You guessed it, they specialize in meatballs. And not just regular beef meatballs but also pork, chicken or vegetarian. Then you have your choice of how you would like your meatballs. It's fun to order sliders, one meatball on a bun, smashed on a brioche bun, or my favorite as a hero - two meatballs on a perfect baquette.

Once you have selected your meatball and presentation it's time to pick your sauce. Each one is better than the next: tomato sauce, spicy meat sauce, mushroom sauce or parmesan cream sauce.

We don't often feature breakfast sandwiches, but the Taylor Ham, Eggs and Cheese sandwich is just a regional institution we couldn't resist.

This sandwich is often referred to as the "Jersey Breakfast" although it's a great sandwich for any meal. It is featured at virtually every diner and greasy spoon in New Jersey, and occasionally at other restaurants in Manhattan and Philadelphia. It is a pretty regional offering.

Taylor Ham, is actually a product called Taylor Pork Roll. it was developed in the 1800's by none other than John Taylor in Trenton, NJ. Basically it is a sausage-like meat product that defies accurate description. Think Spam, bologna, smoked sausage or Canadian bacon and you will get close enough.

Chicago has the italian beef sandwich. Philadelphia has the cheeesteak. When you think of Buffalo, NY you probably think hot wings. But there is something else that is making Buffalo food famous.

It is the Beef on Weck sandwich, almost impossible to find except in the Buffalo area. "Charlie The Butcher" has earned a long reputation as the star of Beef on Weck creations.

What exactly is a Weck you ask? It's a nicknme for the Kummelweck bun, which is similar to a Kaiser Roll, but is sprinkled with kosher saly and a touch of caraway seeds. The bun is served warm and is piled high with sliced beef (like prime rib or roast beef) that has been seasoned and marinated for hours. Then you top the meat off with au jus and horseradish sauce.

Wow, Iron Chef champions and award winning chefs Michael Symon and Bobby Flay have both added to their culinary empire casual hamburger restaurants.

Michael Symon's "B-Spot" has two Cleveland area locations. One in Woodmere (higher end community). I am not sure if it was intentional or not, but his location in a former Cold Stone Creamery location is right next to "Berger & Silver Jewelers." The other location is at "The Q", Quicken Loans Arena. No word yet if Lebron James is the best customer! The interior of the main Woodmere location is very appealing and very casual being in line with the Bar, Burger and Brats concept.

Bobby Flay has four locations of his "Bobby's Burger Palace" concept, all located in the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut area. Bobby's locations also look great, but probably a tad more casual than the "B-Spot".

The B-Sport and the Burger Palace have pretty limited menus featuring the incredible creativity of Bobby Flay and Michael Symon.
