When East meets West in Elmhurst, IL it certanly meets at Zenwich, not your ordinary sandwich shop. Zenwich takes Asian flavors including Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc.) and combines them in unique ways on fairly traditional bread products (usually Ciabatta) in order to make some unique and tasty sandwiches.

By two favorites include the Bulgogi (Korean BBQ) with thinly sliced marinated grilled steak meat with grilled tomato, lettuce, green onion and topped with homemade
red pepper sauce and the Mu Ping featuring grilled caramelized pork, carrot and daikon relish, cucumber, red onion, jalapeno and cilantro with homemade mayonnaise. I'm pretty sure there is nothing close to the taste sensations these sandwiches deliver at Wendy's!

Korean food is definitely becoming more popular in all parts of the country, almost a trend! Chicago has a special Korean treat from Bill Kim's Belly Shack, nothing at all like New York's Shake Shack!

With all the talk about Lebron James we were wondering what else is a Cleveland original. Sure, there is the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, sports teams that haven't won a championship in almost forever, cold and snowy winters, and a city stuck between New York and Chicago.




One thing is for sure, Cleveland also has the championship winning corned beef sandwich. With all the famous deli's in New York and Los Angeles many are surprised to learn that a little deli with an unappetizing sounding name has the best corned beef in America. ...

Anyone who ever grew up with a doting mom sure knows how a great grilled cheese sandwich (and maybe a bowl of tomato soup) is a great comfort food.

While Melt has a traditional grilled cheese sandwich (that is also phenomenal) the real star of the show is how Melt manages to meld together a bunch of ingredients (including cheese) into an outstanding sandwich. I guess you could say Melt melds!


Usually on my first visit I would go with the traditional sandwich, a basic grilled cheese, however I decided to be adventorous and went with the Summer Chicken sandwich. This sandwich features two thick slices of fresh bread, grilled (with butter) to perfection, and then filled with grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, havarti cheese and a roasted garlic herb dressing. True to the name this Melt sure melded together these ingredients in a warm, toasty and extremely satisfying sandwich.

Ok, Ok, I don't know what it is about Michigan and pork, but here's another place that is using up their fair share of swine!

Tony's I-75 Restaurant in Birch Run, MI (between Flint and Saginaw) is a great little diner that serves up huge portions, including the item that made them famous... the Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato sandwich.

What makes this BLT so special? Is it the two thick slices of Italian bread that it is served on? Is it the two measly slices of tomato? Is it the single leaf of iceberg lettuce? Is it the mayo sauce? NO! It's the ONE POUND of bacon! Pretty tasty! And, hey, if you aren't scared off by this huge BLT make sure you save room for dessert, their ice cream sundaes start off with 1/2 gallon of ice cream!!! I suppose if you asked, they would make you an ice cream sundae with bacon on top!!!
