Jennie's Original Grinder - Des Moines, IA

For years those going to the Iowa State Fair searched out the Southwest side of the Administration building looking to satisfy their cravings for Jennie's Original Grinder Sandwich.

Jennie's Grinder heritage started four generations ago with Jennie's current owner's grandparents who invented this sandwich that features ground sausage that is fried and then served on a toasted hoagie bun with a tomato based sauce and cheese. Jalapeños are optional, but recommended!Due to the success at the Iowa State Fair there is now a Jennie's Original Grinder restaurant in Des Moines. It is open every Monday thru Saturday. It will be closed during the Iowa State Fair so that fair goers will continue to be able to satisfy their craving for Jennie's Grinder.
