It seems every culture and every ethnicity has a sandwich or two that is special to them. There are many Vietnamese restaurants all over, and growing in number. Obviously they are more prevalent in areas with a Vietnamese immigrant population.

In the NYC area there is Nicky's Vietnamese Sandwiches. Currently with two locations, and a third opening soon. The most popular and traditional sandwich here is referred to on the menu as the "Classic Vietnamese Sandwich."

The combination of ingredients are unique including the bread, or in this case the baguette which is made from a combination of both wheat and rice flour. The baguette is toasted and filled with a pâté (Vietnamese ham and roasted ground pork) and pickled carrots, cucumber, cilantro and gobs of mayo.
